Sagittary Family
The Sagittary family appear to have originated in Heargord in the Rhine area of Germany. Frederick Sagittary* was Treasurer to Frederick V, the Paslgrave and Palatine of the Rhine. Known as the "Winter King”, Frederick V was overthrown and went into exile in Holland in the early 1620’s. The Sagittary family had to leave Germany and as Protestant refugees settled in England. Sagittary’s original name was Schutze* which in German means archer. It appears that upon arrival in England they changed their name to Sagittary which is the astrological name Sagittarius whose sign is an archer.
