Saturday, July 16 10am-12pm
Dear Pack Members,
I hope all is well and you are enjoying the summer. The next Packing Outing is a fishing expedition at Lovelace Park in Evanston (Gross Point Road at Thayer St). The Eco-Staff of Evanston sponsor this event every Saturday morning between 10am and 1pm from May thru September. This popular free program is a great way to introduce children age 5-15 to the "catch and release" process. No license is needed for those under age 16. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Equipment, bait and fishing expertise are provided by the Eco-Staff. However, I recommend you bring your own rod and bait if you are able as the Eco-Staff¹s supplies are limited. By the way, getting bait or worm harvesting is a great activity to do with your son or children. Go to your garage, get a shovel and small container, take the shovel to your backyard and dig a hole. There are a lot of worms in the rich earth of Illinois.
The Pack will meet at Lovelace Pack at 10am on Saturday, July 16 (Look for the group with bright yellow shirts). Don't be late as the small parking lot fills up quickly. Please attend with your son. The cub scouts should wear their yellow Wilmette Pack One t-shirt. If your son doesn't have a Wilmette Pack One t-shirt, please contact Jaime Fink at jfink@live.com.
As an added bonus, Krist Werling and Tade Kemnitz have promised to demonstrate their Catfish Noodling techniques. Although illegal in many states, it's still legal in the Illinois. Don't know what Noodling is? Noodling is fishing for catfish using only bare hands. The noodler places his or her hand inside a discovered catfish hole and attempts to catch the fish. Should be fun to watch!
Please respond to this email if you and your son plan to attend. We would like to have an accurate count of the attendees.
Thank you,
Jaime Fink
