Frenzied flutter of the robin
to escape from the grip,
shrill and pathetic bleats
of the she-goat that strayed from flock,
sharp nails and teeth tattoo
tiny red flowers on the hairy arm,
desperate strike against grassy ground
by writhing hands and legs,
hair slips out of locks and spread
over the cheeks already clouded
and dart of restless eyes in fright.
Dress strips down from waist,
Grass blades prick satin soft back,
Outstretched arms loses strength like
Uprooted lotus stem thrown in the sun,
Bleeding tooth-scratches on lips,
Rounded breasts under weight squeeze,
Torn garlands and fragrant flowers
Scatter, sindoor fades on forehead,
Broken glass bangles splash colours
And tired body drenches in sweats warm.
Gone is the glitter in eyes,
Stuck at throat are heaves,
Heart beats die out inside chest,
And pink of soles pale white;
Supine corpse with thighs slightly parted.
Fresh flesh and blood smell warm;
Wolves, jackals and leopards come;
Freezes blood flow at the sight.
In agony they groan and they raise
Right forelegs to rub their nose.
