FACE OF SORROW
It was darkness everywhere
Pitchy in compressed layers.
Lungs filled with foul air,
But the restless air rolled nowhere
Fearing lest it might stumble
If dared to grope with a grumble.
Disgrace, slander- their rotten stink,
Scorpions - their tormenting sting;
Wasps nested inside my brain;
Worms from sump wells came in train
Crawled all over my body in haste;
Leeched, vampires, all gathered to taste
Warm blood pumped thro’ my vein
Until the flow would fully drain.
My eyes, in that darkness trained
To envision a sight, they strained
As gloomy as solidified darkness
As dispelling as opening a face.
I was terrified; my limps quivered,
My face twisted, its muscles shrivelled
And drawn upward with a start;
That caused my lips to move apart.
"Strange" You’re grinning!
Who’ll dare to look at me smiling?
I’m sorrow!
