A peep thro’ the electron microscope
His infantile inquistity fultteredi
The wonderland of Alice
Unfolds in a toy bioscope,
She stands in the dignified pose
While lesser lassies run around her.
An atom under the lens
Million- fold magnified
He witnesses the tireless flight of electrons
Around an impassioned neutron.
In the wonderland of atoms
No communism nor equality exists:
Some are river in electrons,
Many are under-possessed.
Fight of have’s and have-not‘s;
The battle is primitive,
Often a hand to hand encounter.
But the rich will rarely
Part with their wealth.
And, the poor will boldly
Fight with renewed vigour.
Sometimes the war-weary atoms
Agree for a reluctant cease-fire
And to work jointly in partnership
Discarding their separate trade marks
Under a new name and style:
The Molecule.
The powerful molecules build their nations
Each different and distinct
Of sums and constellations
To planktons and microbes,
And form their United Nations
What we call the Universe.
Disparity in possession persists,
The true is often short- lived
Clashes may erupt anywhere anytime;
Minor as a cock fight of atoms,
Fierce as battle of wind and waves
Or destructive as collision of stars.
A non-pause and perpetual was
Sans beginning, may outline time.
He observes with wonder:
How tightly the electrons are held
With the passionate threads of attraction!
If some reckless hand
Forcibly will take away one electron
The atom will burn with fury
And discharge enormous heat
To blast a mountain to dust
Or to turn a city into rubbles!
