DIGITAL STORYTELLING EXPERIMENTING ON IT
I have not had much time to learn more about DS, so this is my draft of the video which I have created. It needs improving but I have created a script, chosen music and pictures for my presentation. It is about a novel which I love: To the Lighthouse. Later I will have to create a better video because I am aware that the quality is not very good.
Steps to achieve the first digital production :
- think about the topic
- search pictures on the internet
- search music
- copy and save files on the computer
- choose the pictures/ music
- take pictures
- write a script
- write a storyboard by using the pictures, script and music
- In my case, I also used powerpoint to see how long the presentation would last
- Think about the video recorder: I had problems both with WEVIDEO https://www.wevideo.com/ and later I started to use WINDOW MOVIE MAKER but I could not save the video
- Tool used: voice recorder which I had downloaded on my smartphone
- Tool used : video recorder online ( screencast -o-matic because I could not save the videos with WEVIDEO)
- Tool used :Dropbox for saving the recording with the voice recorder in mp3
- Tool used: online voice recorder http://online-voice-recorder.com/it/
- Tool used : Youtube for uploading the video after recording
First draft done with Jing http://screencast.com/t/9di8oaDy ( screencasting and video recording to see a first draft of the video)
After my peers provided me with evaluation I could not change much, I rewrote part of the script, recorded my voice again and used again the video recorder I had used the week before. I changed some sections with the extracts from the book but I could not have any more time to find better resolutions for the photos used. So what I am going to do is to work on the new video editing tools which were problematic and to try to work on them and see why I could not save the videos. This is the final version, not much better, of the video:
