Match report - Summer Meeting 8th June 2019

Post date: Jun 11, 2019 8:46:27 PM

The 2nd Summer Meeting of the Club took place at Bisley on Saturday, 8 June.  There were 16 entries, one of whom shot SRSB in one detail and MRSB in the other.

Despite travelling to Bisley in driving rain in the morning, conditions had cleared by lunchtime and the afternoon shoot took place mainly in the dry, with only a few spots of rain and blue sky showing through at times.  However the wind was very strong from 9 o'clock all afternoon, requiring allowances of 12 to 24 minutes at 300 yards and 15 to 30 at 400.  Consequently, scores were very low, even the winner not managing to average inners, whilst average magpies were well up the order of merit.

Because of these conditions, the marking was inevitably slower than normal and it became clear that we would not have time to fire the full 15 shots at 400 yards,  so the decision was made to fire 12 to count at that distance.

The Prize List and full order of merit are displayed as PDF documents >>>>.  The honours went to Simon Edwards, who made the highest score with a TRSB rifle and took the Nonington College Cup for the MRSB aggregate.

Our next shoot takes place this coming Saturday, 15 June, when we defend the Challenge Shield against Derbyshire RA at Thorpe Cloud.  5 members from the south are signed up for this, but there is room for a few more if anyone else would like to join us.  Please let me know if you wish to do so.
