Carol Painting (1942 - 2019), RIP
Post date: Jun 30, 2019 10:17:44 PM
Sadly, I have to forward on to you the following email announcing Carol's death 4 days ago.
Carol was one of the founding committee of LRRFC and made an enormous contribution to getting us set up with a constitution and a bank account, serving as our first Treasurer. She was also an outstanding LRRF competitor, prior to which her career at the top end of fullbore TR stretched back 50 years or more.
She donated the two principal silver trophies which we present at our Autumn Meeting, the Campaign Cup (a play on her name) and the Treasurer's Spoon.
We shall miss her blazing competitive spirit, her helpful (although often exacting) comments on all matters and her generosity with her time and resources.
Kind regards,
Richard Kenchington
Dear all,
It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Carol lost
her brave fight against cancer and died at home in the evening of
Sunday, 23rd June 2019. Her sister, Sue was with her in her final days
and at the end.
She was one of a kind and will be remembered for her integrity, hard
work, loyalty, generosity and her life-long passion for rifle
shooting.
Carol was helped greatly in the last few weeks of her life by the
Rowans Hospice at Home nurses. Should anyone wish to make a donation
in her memory please visit www.rowanshospice.co.uk/donate.
Following her strict instructions there will be no funeral service.
with kind regards,
Sue, Sarah and Fiona
