Compare at
Use when comparing exact or like items sold by other retailers. When comparing well-known brands (Ex: Nest thermostat), we compare prices for the same item. For exclusive and less-well-known brands, we compare items with the same basic features (Ex: 4-burner gas grill). Either way, the comparison is always “apples to apples.”
New
A SKU that is new to the assortment in at least 100 stores
Can only be called “new” for six months
New Lower Price (NLP)
Must be a minimum 5% markdown and last at least 90 days, with the intent of maintaining the lowered price indefinitely, unless specifically funded by a vendor.
Online Only
Include icon on all online-only products.
Range of savings
The lowest and highest discounts for an offer. A full range of savings must be shown if less than 20% of the offering is available at highest savings claim. Ex: “10% to 15% off” – if 20% or more of the items are available at the highest discount, the full range is not required and the largest discount may be featured (“up to 15% off”).
Range of savings can be promoted through three pricing options:
Up To XX% Off/Up To $XX Off (20% of selection must be at high range)
XX–XX% Off/$XX–XX Off (use when 20% of selection is not at high range)
Starting at $XX
General guidelines to follow:
Lead with largest discount or greatest benefit (do not use “over and under” language with the exception of gift center “under $XX” pricing buckets).
Special Buy (Core)
Valid only for D28O, Appliances, Charcoal, Ladders and D25 Gift Centers, during Black Friday, Spring Black Friday and other approved events. Use of the “Was/Now” comparison is allowed for these exceptions only.
Special Buy (Non-core)
A one-time buy that is outside the normal mix of goods. It must be priced right to sell through over a 30–60 day period. These SKUs must include a “While supplies last♦♦” disclaimer.
Store Only
Icon used only for Black Friday advertising on product not available online.
Was price
To show the previous price for the product at The Home Depot. Must be shown when NLP icon is used. May be used with a Special Buy icon for core SKUs.
