Benefits Dos and Don’ts

·         Pro Xtra benefits should be treated as a proper names and initial capped—e.g., Perks, Preferred Pricing, Exclusive Offers, Paint Rewards, Volume Pricing, Purchase Tracking and Text2Confirm Authorization

·         The word “benefit” as a noun does not require capitalization; nor is capitalization required when modifying the benefit outside its proper name.

• Reward and all its other forms can be used in copy. Perks should still be the primary descriptor of the benefit at all times, but “reward,” “rewards” and “rewarding” can be used as supplemental messaging. 

·         The list below are the preferred POE benefits in listing order:

·         VPP: Use “Volume Pricing” instead of “Volume Pricing Program” unless speaking about the actual program

·         Volume Pricing needs to have supporting copy “on orders over $1,500”—e.g.,  “Volume Pricing on windows, drywall and more on orders over $1,500”

·         Paint Rewards needs to include “up to 20%”

·         Paint Rewards uses “lifetime color history by job” rather than “unlimited” or another descriptor

·         The Spanish translation of Paint Rewards is RECOMPENSAS EN PINTURA.

General Verbiage Dos and Don’ts

·         Don’t use the words “discounts,” “sale” or “deals”

·         Never abbreviate the Pro Online Experience to POE in customer-facing copy

·         Always capitalize “Pro Desk”. Do not use “Pro Xtra Desk”.

·         Refrain from using puns in body copy (exceptions can be made for more informal communications, such as online ads).

·         Always capitalize “Rental Center.”

·         “Pros” is used to describe both B2B and Pro Xtra members and potential members. Both “Pro” and “Pros” are always initial capped

·         Someone who participates in the Pro Xtra program is a “member.” Avoid use of the word “customer”

Grammatical Dos and Don’ts

·         No periods in headlines

·         Do not use exclamation points

·         Avoid superlatives (fastest, most effective, best) without substantiation

·         “Job site” is two words

·         “Checkout” as a noun is one word—e.g., Scan your Virtual ID at checkout.

·         “Check out” is two words when used as a verb—e.g., Use your Virtual ID each time you check out.

·         Capitalize the words “Authorized Service Provider.”

·          “In-store” as an adjective has a hyphen—e.g., “in-store offer,” “in-store purchase.”

·          “In store” as a place does not have a hyphen—e.g., “Use your coupon in store or online.”
