(to the tune of The Long and Winding Road)
The Longchenpa teachings
From the all-knowing one
Start with deference
And renunciation
Remember impermanence
That’s the foundation
Place conducive to practice
Inspires inner calm
Shifts by season, time of day
On glaciers, you can’t go wrong
Be mindful where you pray
Helps practice along
Practitioners need confidence
And no sense of doubt
You cannot sit on the fence
And truly be devout
And so we keep precepts
Of no harm, benefit
We see Buddhanature
To praise we’re indifferent
Body, speech, mind secure
Listen, reflect, and sit
The practice starts with bliss
Then luminosity
We’ll develop no thought
Perceptions’ purity
Meditate a lot
Comfort and clarity
Inspired by the teachings of Tulku Orgen Phunsok at the Vairotsana Foundation.
