(to the tune of “Both Sides Now”)
Phenomena are all around
Experiences sure abound
But are they real? Can they be found?
And can they even last?
I’ve analyzed things logically
Found no essence
With certainty
Just mind’s illusions, dependent
I guess phenomena are impermanent
How about perceiver and perceived?
Which is I and which is me?
Does mind exist or is it empty?
To what ego do I cling?
I’ve meditated on my mind
Found no substance
But what I find
Is subject becomes object when
I bring my attention to them
What is the self if mind it’s not?
Body, feeling, stuff you’ve got?
Social status can change a lot
I guess there’s nothing left
I’m looking at the skandas five
When they’re all gone, what’s still alive?
Their collection gives an impression
Of a being, but I’m no substantial person
