Tobias was 52 when they left Ireland aboard the Herefordshire (assisted passage) on the 27th May 1857. He is listed as a farm labourer, she was a farm servant. Their daughter, Margaret, was listed as a house servant. He could not read or write but she could do both. See Assisted Immigrants Index 1839-1896

Margaret and her sister, Alice, were already in the colony when Tobias, Elisabeth and the rest of the family came on the Herefordshire.
After they emigrated to Australia, Tobias became the sexton of St Mary's Catholic Church in East Maitland, Trove has an article referring to his being a sexton and witness in an infant death case. (Northern Times (Newcastle, NSW: 1857 - 1918) Sat 24 Apr 1858 Page 2 MAITLAND). The article is shown below. He must have owned a property in Bamwell Street West Maitland as stated in a council assessment found on Trove pictured below. I also read in the post office directory that he was a labourer and lived in Bamfield Street, Maitland West (1872, could have been the father, Tobias, or the son, Tobias). Another Trove article, also pictured below, states he was charged with using obscene language🙃 just one year before he died, so he must have been a character.
Tobias and Elizabeth had 7 children
Tobias Miller's son, and namesake, was a pioneer in the coach driving industry and then owned the licensed Garrick's Head Hotel, West Maitland. Trove (Maitland Mercury 7 Jan. 1888) stated that a Tobias Miller had a renewal of his bagatelle licence in West Maitland and that the court was concerned that one should not have billiard tables in public houses. I also found the younger Tobias's obituary from the Maitland Murcury. (shown below).
Tobias' and Elizabeth's daughter, Elizabeth, is buried in Maitland at Oakhampton cemetery. She died at age 38 as did her husband. Her son, aged 5, is buried with her. I read an article on Reddit about her tragic life and I have
provided a copy of it below.
Newspaper article about the voyage on Trove
Herefordshire ship (note that only 12 were Irish so Tobias and family must have been included in those 12).
The magnificent ship Herefordshire, 1354 tons, belonging to Mr. Ferguson, of Limehouse, and under the command of Captain Champion, sailed from Plymouth, February 24, for Sydney, with 416 Government emigrants, under the care of Mr. Alloway, surgeon-superintendent. Of these, 12 only were Irish, and, as a whole, the emigrants are robust and healthy, and well-selected, to meet the requirements of the colony. A large proportion are from the West of England, who obtained passages through the agency of Mr. J. B. Wilcocks, of Plymouth.
