William J. Clements (1822-1860)
William J. Clements was born in 1822 in Essex, England. He married Susannah Clements (nee Staples) in January 1848 in Newmarket, Cambridgeshire, England. They had four children during their marriage. He died in October 1860 in Newmarket, Cambridgeshire, England, at the age of 38. According to the 1851 census he appears to have been a boot and shoe maker, (although this William Clements has Bishops Stortford listed as his birthplace.)
*it seems that "Essex" may have been written over with "Hert...", (Herfortshire?)
Susannah Staples (1826-1881)
Susannah Staples was born in 1826 in Soham, Cambridgeshire, England to Luke Staples and Mary Thompson (Staples). She was christened 28 April 1826 in Soham. She married William J. Clements in January 1848 in Newmarket, Cambridgeshire, England. They had four children during their marriage. She died in 1881 at the age of 55. In 1848, at the age of 22, her occupation is listed as straw bonnet maker.
*According to Robert Condy's family website on Family Search they were married 1 March 1848.
*There is a William Clements marriage recorded in Newmarket for 1948 possibly to a Suzannah Staples, but the record is unclear and I can't view the original. (1)

1851 census for Soham. William seems to have been from Bishops Stortford, (Herfordshire?) Suzanna is 24, listed as being from Soham and they have a 1 year old son, Wittington.
1861 census for Soham. William has died and Suzanna is 35, widow, head of the household with three children. Wittington is not listed.
