When Henry Dent was born on June 27, 1811, in Manchester, Lancashire, England, his father, Stephen, was 40 and his mother, Margaret, was 37. He was christened on the 5th April 1811 in his hometown of Ravenstonedale. He married Jane Dent on June 16, 1835. (2) They had eight children in 11 years. He died on October 9, 1871, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, at the age of 60, and was buried in New South Wales, Australia. He is buried in Rookwood cemetery near Sydney. (1)

When Jane Jones was born on April 4, 1810, in Manchester, Lancashire, England, her father, Richard, was 23, and her mother, Sarah, was 19. She married Henry Dent on June 16, 1835. (2) They had eight children in 11 years, including my 3rd Great Grandmother Margaret Jane Dent 1836-1869), (3) who died as a young mother aged only 33. Other children's names included Thomas Dent (1835-1874), Sarah Jane Dent (1838-), Stephen Henry Dent (1841-1843) another ? Stephen Henry Dent (1843-1894) (He married Josephine Oatley in 1863, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in New South Wales, Australia in 1843. He died on 10 April 1894, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, at the age of 50, and was buried in Lidcombe, New South Wales, Australia), Sarah Jane Dent (1845-1846), Annette I. Dent (1847-1848). It seems sad that many of the children failed to survive long.She died on October 31, 1891, in Paddington, New South Wales, Australia, having lived a long life of 81 years, and was buried in New South Wales, Australia with her husband, Henry and son Stephen Henry.
