Safety Statement

Introduction

This Safety Statement is a sub set of the Safety Policy and its purpose is to outline the SWCYRA management's programme, in writing, for safeguarding health & safety of the people involved in the sport of Costal Rowing in West Cork

This is meant as a guide to safe practices and is to be read in conjunction with the risk assessment for the association activities.

It represents the management's commitment to safety and health, and specifies the manner the organisation and the resources necessary, for maintaining and reviewing health and safety standards.

A statement of general policy

The South West Yawl Rowing Association is committed to develop and maintain a culture of safety in rowing and to support everyone involved in the sport in their efforts to achieve this.

Safe system should become the standard practice for all activities after it has been thoroughly thought through and each element analyzed for hazards. Safe system eliminates these hazards where practicable or provides adequate controls.

Reviewing

This Safety Statement will be reviewed annually by the management committee of the association and be signed by the chairman.

In the event of a major incident in rowing being brought to the attention of the association the committee will amend this Safety Statement if required.

Positions in the Association with responsibility for safety:

The primary responsibility for developing and maintaining a culture of safe practice in rowing lies with the Officers and Committee members of the Association. This Safety Statement names all roles with the specific responsibilities set out in the Safety Statement.
