The Coastal Rowing County Medal was first awarded in 1999 at the County Finals in Glandore hosted by Rosscarbery Rowing Club and Glandore Regatta Committee. The concept and design for the medal came from Niall Ronan and the die for the medal is jointly owned by the SWCYRA and the Coastal Rowing Association. The medal showed the growing strength of Coastal Rowing in Cork and the strengthening of the links between the two associations. It has been awarded at County Final regattas since.
The County status of the medal is symbolised by the traditional Cork crest of two watchtowers while the four oar yawl gives the medal it's coastal rowing uniqueness.
The medal is 40mm in diameter and 3mm in thickness. The words "County Final", the coastline, the waves, the towers and the yawl signify the status of the medal - gold, silver and bronze. The dark blue foreground represents the sea while the light blue background represents the sky.
