Movie Nights

Summer 2011 - You Are Here Movie Night
Teens voted on a selection of movies that either featured travel or exotic locations. The selections were: Up, Around the World in 80 Days, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Roman Holiday, Leap Year, Chocolat, Bride and Prejudice, The Princess & the Frog, Mulan, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Door prizes (boxes of movie candy) were awarded and refreshments served (popcorn and soft drinks).
September 2011 - Movie Night
Teens selected from a choice of movies. Tangled and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory were the winners. The usual theater style refreshments were served.
October 2011 - Spooktacular Movie Night
Teens came in costume to watch Hocus Pocus. Refreshments included the usual popcorn and soft drinks with the addition of Halloween candy (e.g., candy corn)
Summer 2012 - Luau Movie Night
Teens were invited to the library to watch a beach movie (choices included Gidget, Gidget Goes Hawaiian, Blue Hawaii, Surf's Up, and Lilo & Stitch). Tropical refreshments were served (fresh fruit with dip, tropical party punch, and orange cupcakes with cream cheese frosting). I purchased luau decorations from the local Dollar Tree.
February 2013 - Fairy Tale Movie Theater
in honor of Wilhelm Grimm's birthday on February 24
Movie Choices: Tangled, A Cinderella Story, Enchanted, Inkheart, Ella Enchanted, Shrek, Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton), Mulan, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Princess and the Frog, The Little Mermaid, Sydney White
I also did a book display of fairy tale retellings & poetry.
Summer 2013 - Beneath the Surface Movie Night
Movie Choices: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008), The Mummy, Pirates of the Caribbean (any of the 4)
January 2014 - Movie Night
