Teen Summer Reading Program Description:
Teens participate by using a bingo card. The bingo card is 5 x 5 squares. The free space is sign-up for summer reading. The squares have various activities that deal with reading, using the library, attending pograms, volunteering, and participating in outdoor water activities (swimming, etc.). The teens' goal is to get 2 bingos on the card. This entitles them to a certificate, t-shirt, prize pack, and an entry into the grand prize drawing at the awards ceremony. The teens can also earn free books by reviewing books they read.

- Game basket- 2 Hasbro card games (Monopoly Deal, Scrabble Slam), checkers, chips, 2 drinks, funsize candy bars

- Twilight Gift Set- New Moon tote bag, Eclipse soundtrack, New Moon card game, New Moon keychains
Week 1: Battleship Tournament
We went really low tech and just used the Battleship baod from p. 53 of the CSLP manual. Teens used markers, crayons, etc., to mark up their grids.
Week 2: Puppet Play Practice
They chose the puppet play from last year's CSLP manual, "The Three Little Fishies and the Big Bad Shark." They used the templates provided to make the fish, shark, and houses on card-stock. They then colored the puppets with crayons and made them into stick puppets by taping on dowels.
Week 3: Percy Jackson Party
Opening Activities
- Greek Names (Teens write their names in Ancient Greek on name tags. Greek chart came from PJ's Event Kit p. 3)
- Claiming (Teens draw out of a hat to find out which god or goddess is their parent. Give tags similar to press badges that have the god or goddess's name and symbol on it. Teens can learn about their "parents" from "Percy's Greek god Reference Chart" p. 5 of PJ's Event Kit.)

Arts & Crafts
- Oracle of Delphi Fortuneteller (CSLP manual p. 167 [Make a Splash manual])
- Picture Yourself as a god or goddess (activity sheet from Ultimate Party Kit p. 10)
Refreshments: Blue kool-aid and vanilla tootsie rolls (they have blue wrappers)
