EYES:  GEOGRAPHIC RD IN ONE EYE

Information on Geographic RD:  Click here for an article from a veterinary opthamologist.

Butch's geographic RD area is small and has not proved to have any functional impairment in his work.  He hunts pheasants every fall, completed his JH in CKC and AKC and WC, WCI, and also is working at the utility level in obedience where he is doing retrieves, jumps and signals.  He has sired one litter in a test breeding fall of 2017, and none of the offspring had any signs of RD.

A New Grand Champion

October 1, 2017

Achievements:

Butch is the beautiful boy I kept from Breeze's first litter.  He is a classic, substantial boy with an old-fashioned weatherproof coat.  He earned his WC at the GRCC National Specialty in July 2010, and completed his JH on September 12, 2010.  He completed his AKC JH in June 2011 at the CVGRC test in Ohio.  He earned his WCI at the end of August 2013 at the GRCC National Specialty Working test hosted by the Maritime GRC, as the only dog to pass in the test.  With his obedience qualification, and winning the BBE class, he also won the Nan Gordon trophy at the 2013 GRCC National Specialty--my second dog to do so.

He got his CD in the fall of 2013, picking up his first leg at the GRCC National Specialty in Halifax under Cheryl Bishop in September, and then earning legs at the Caledon KOC trial under Diana Mackenzie, and Muskoka DKOC under Isobel Hutton and Del Lunn with high in class scores all the way through.  He earned his CDX in the summer of 2014.

In selective showing (the show ring really isn't our favourite place to be!!) on July 24, 2012 Butch picked up his first Ch points with a 5 point WD/BOW from the Bred-By class under Australian judge Rosemary Kemp.  He picked up two more points going WD under Guy Jeavons at the Grey-Bruce show in August 2012, and another two points under sporting judge Thomas Alexander at St. Catherines in August 2013.  At the GRCC national he won the BBE class under Scandinavian breeder Judge Henric Frykstrand.  He finished with a 4 point BOB/BOW/WD win at the Brantford show in December 2013 under Labrador breeder judge Pierry McLean.  We decided to bring him back out in the show ring with our friend Joanne Perritt in the summer of 2017, while we were training her Remi for the field, in search of his Grand Champion.  He finished at the Pine Ridge KC on October 1, 2017 going Best of Breed under Mr. Rick Fehler who commented on his type and fitness for almost 9 years old.
