Cake Stall or Salad Bar Donation
It is tradition for all school families to donate one item to either the Cake Stall or Salad Bar. Both these stalls regularly sell out so donations provided from the wider school allow the stalls to remain open maximising the fundraising. Please Click here for more information. Ka pai!

Stall/Task Coordinators: Edit these lists to suit your needs, then ask parents to put their names on the lists (online and/or print them out).
Parents: When requested, volunteer your help by putting your names next to task on the lists.
Class 9 Students - With 4 x helpers per hour needed also get the class 9 students to put their names down, more often than not they tend to quite enjoy this.
The Salad Bar is one of the MOST successful food offerings that we provide. As well as the salads provided by your class community, seek donations of 'Salad Creations' from the wider community.
Stall Summary
Each family asked to donate 1 or 2 trays of a FRESH SEASONAL SALAD CREATION.
Advertise to wider school community for salad donations via the newsletter (contact class 4 coordinator to make sure included in the newsletter fair communication) and put up A3 printed posters at the school gates on the fortnight prior to the fair (both at Hansen Park and on the school field fence at the Ombersley Terrace entrance).
An example A3 poster can be downloaded HERE
Customers purchase a pottle ($67suggested for 2024) and it is important that the class (Parents/students) do the actual serving. AND have an agreed portion size that is written down or passed on to the next rostered parents in some way. One year people were allowed to serve themselves and over 30 trays of salad were gone by 12pm.
Have a separate person on the money handling only and others on the salad serving.
Encourage people to be as wild and colorful with their salad creations as they want, remember colorful salads sell themselves, also ask for an ingredients list for each salad donated.
Contact the CA or class 4 team for a stack of foil trays that you can distribute to the class families to bring their salads to the fair in. This saves on having to keep track of people's personal containers. These trays have then been washed and reused for other things during the year.
Salads can be stored in either the cooking room / cafeteria fridges or the New World trailer fridge if on site.

Recent Feedback:
Place vegan and gluten free salads together and clearly label these as such
Over lunch rush the line moved slowly as customers were not limited to how many salads they could choose. Limiting it to 4 choices over this busy period worked well.
Request specific salad types eg. Potato, rice, pasta, bean, green, coleslaw etc.. and nail down exactly who's doing which so you kniw what youngave coming. Leaving the surprise salads for those coming from wider school community. At least 2 trays per family.
Get a group of people getting together to do BIG bulk prep of specific salads as it's SUCH a popular stall and sells out so quickly. You could double the salads (and the profit) and probably still sell out!
Really push advertising to the wider school community to get more salads coming in. Having few bottles of extra salad dressing for plain lettuce salads would be good.
Consider making a roasted seed topper as an option to add to salads at an extra cost (handy when you're down to plain lettuce salad at the end of the day). You could do the same with Feta cheese.
