Letter from UFM

(revised from the letter of January 23, 2009)

University Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends

Seattle, WA

August 2, 2009

Dear Friends Everywhere,

We send our greetings and this letter with Stasa Morgan-Appel, a member of University Meeting.  We hope you will enjoy her presence as we have and receive the same benefits of her intelligence, kindness, faithfulness to the Inward Light and commitment to Friends.

While with us, Staśa has labored under a concern for ministry and asked us to form a clearness committee for her.  That committee met with her, queried her in depth and found clearness that the Spirit calls Staśa to a pastoral ministry including spiritual counseling and healing.  Our Worship and Ministry Committee accepted this report and provided her with an oversight and care committee to support her while she was with us and to explore ways to continue that support from a distance after she moves.

Staśa is called especially to work with those whose experience of the Inward Light is aligned with Pagan, Wiccan, New Age, and pantheistic thea/ologies.  We do not see any conflict with Quakerism here and have experienced her core identity as a Friend.  We found that recognizing the sacredness of nature and holding up the feminine aspects of the Divine are congruent with Quakerism.  We will continue to hold her in the Light and accompany her from a distance on this path.

We commend Staśa to your loving care.

In peace,
