BUSINESS MEETING – Our next singing is scheduled for September 29, JoAnne (in absentia) stepping forward to provide snacks. October 27 is the date for our annual “Scared Harp” singing, Stephen volunteering for snacks. Rob will provide snacks on November 17.

Stephen observed that elections for officers will soon be in order and called for nominations in September.

RECESS – Excellent carrot cake baked by John (in absentia, much lamented) transported by Gene. Brownie cookies contributed by Dawn, also very moist and tasty.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – Sharon and Tom offered a report on shape note singing in our nation’s capital. M.Anne alerted us to the “Prints in Clay” production at the Gaillard September 15, featuring Lowcountry Voices. Suzanne mentioned a new “Beer and Hymns” group, currently organizing. The next Savannah singing is scheduled for September 8. The “pioneer” all-day singing will also take place on September 8, now in Simpsonville.

Mitchell Stecker, an experienced singer recently relocated here from Florida, was introduced. Welcome! Mitchell is planning to start a Southern Harmony group on the Citadel campus, first meeting Wednesday evening September 5, in the Summerall Chapel.
