What is a Witch?
Since you are here to learn about magic, I can only assume the question must be on your mind... "if magic is supposedly compatible with any religion, then what the heck is a 'witch'?" Well, "witch" is a very broad term. It is also a very misunderstood term. Most people believe that being a witch means you must be Wiccan or pagan. This is entirely untrue. Anyone of any religion can be a witch. A witch can be a spellcasting, or a healer, or simply a person who sees and feels the magical energy in nature.
I cannot speak for anyone but myself, so this is just my feelings about what it means to be a witch.
I am proud to be a witch. It is a positive path for me, it fills me with joy and confidence. To me, it means being closer to my source. It gives me a sense of destiny without robbing me of my sense of control. I have a better understanding of how nothing can be achieved without dedication, and every action has a consequence. Whether in application of magic of simply in everyday decision making, this teaches me to choose my moves wisely. Magic is something whichmust be used well and in moderation. A mistake in magic is like a mistake in anything else in real life. A lesson is learned. A witch may accept the lesson, or repeat the mistake and learn it all over again.
But, most of all, being a witch is about remembering that you are a piece of God. Whatever God/dess you believe in, you are a part of their glory, a single beam of their infinite light. You do not have to submit to the direction the current is carrying. You have the divine inside you, enjoy this and use it well.
