Magic for All Religions
Magic knows no boundaries, and that includes religion. My saying is "magic is as religiously specific as baking a pie". People commonly associate witchcraft with the religion of Wicca. This is a misconception. Witchcraft was around long before Wicca, in fact, it was around long before any major world religion. So let's clear that mentality away right now. Magic is appropriate for any religion.
How is that so?
All of magic is, as its simplest, nothing more than calling on a higher power -- any higher power -- whether God or the divine self. It is like a prayer made of symbols and motions, the way dancing is like animated poetry. Magic can be a more emotional expression of one's love for their God or of a person's goals.
If other people's opinions are what hold you back, just remember that people are quick to condemn what they don't understand. When people think of rituals and spells, it calls to mind the concept of devil worship created by the Church. But this was not always so. Early Christians performed coptic magic, books of these rituals and spells still exist as evidence. It was not until later that the Church changed its mind and decided there was no compatibility between magic and religion. Yet how is a spell that distinctly different than a prayer?
Magic can be, if you allow it, a compass on you journey to the higher goal of your religion. It will help to keep you heading in the right direction and it will guide you back to your path if you get lost. I hope you will take all I have said into careful consideration in your decision.
