Dream Artwork
One of the best ways to get another perspective on your dreams is to create a piece of artwork that represents the dream. You don't have to be the most talented artist in the world, even a simple shape can often be enough.
First, choose a medium that is appropriate to the dream. If the colors, images, and moods were sharp and strong, maybe you should use markers and paper... if it was obscured, unclear, and faint, you could try watercolors. If it was very tangible and physical, maybe you could make a small sculpture from clay or dough.... and so on. I have even used chalk on sandpaper before to create the perfect medium for my dream.
Then illustrate the main idea. This may stress importance in an object, character, or scene. It might just be a splash of colors that represent emotions or feelings. Remember how colors affect you- if your dream was dark and moody, you'd want to use dark values (black, grey, navy blue, pine green, maroon...) as opposed to bright colors like yellow and orange. Pay attention to geometric design as well- sharp angles and smooth curves convey completely different emotions.
Once you are done, examine the piece. What does the overall affect suggest? What might the dream have been telling you, or expressing? You can hang your work in your room over your bed if you want to give yourself time to think about it.
