Quasar is an exotic cosmic body, basically a young active galaxy, that is powered by a supermassive black hole and that emits an enormous amount of energy into space through jets in opposite directions from the center (nuclei of the galaxy).

Quasars are so powerful that we outshine their host galaxies. Quasar word is the contraction of QUAsi-StellaR radio source.
