Disrupted planet is any exoplanet or planet-like body that got destroyed, demolished, knocked off or wrecked by a nearby or passing cosmic object. Disruption to the planet is usually caused by its own host star, or neighboring planets or planet-like bodies. Doomed worlds that fly too close to their 'sun' - only to be ripped apart by its tidal forces - are also categorized under disrupted planet. If two (or more) planets collide into each other, they both (or all) would be categorized under disrupted planet class.

Type of disruption:

• Temporary disruption: If we consider Giant Impact Theory to be true, then during the time when the proto-Earth was hit by Theia, both of them entered into temporary disruption phase, and eventually formed Earth and Moon respectively.
• Permanent disruption: Phaeton, the hypothetical planet thought to have existed between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter, is believed to have gone into permanent disruption phase that eventually formed the Asteroid Belt of the solar system.
