Phaeton was a hypothetical terrestrial planet of our solar system that is believed to have existed in distant past between the planet Mars and Jupiter before it was completely broken up by some catastrophic event which is most likely would have been a major bolide impact. Destruction of phaeton supposedly led to the formation of the asteroid belt. This planet was theorized by Titus-Bode law.
