When a meteoroid enters the Earth's atmosphere, it starts to burn up because of the friction. This friction creates a fiery and glowing streak of light in the sky. This streak of light, as it passes through the atmosphere at high speed, is called Meteor.
In simple words, on entry to Earth's atmosphere, a meteoroid break down and burns up creating a blazing path in the sky, that is known as a Meteor.
