Quilting and Soup Lunch April 21

Post date: Apr 22, 2015 2:27:19 AM

Dear Son's Chapel Volunteers,

Another nice, sunny, spring day (without the forecasted rain) for quilting and soup lunch with 22 quilters/ stitchers! We had 28 for lunch, and quite an abundance and variety of food!

Also heard lots of pounding, "huffing and puffing" today, NOT from the wind, but new spouting and gutters on the Chapel. A "kitty" quilt, quilted by M, has been bound; and another quilt top was sewn. M embroidered a "Ring of Animals" center in "blue work". Bolders were THE conversation of the day... NO, NOT Bolder, Colorado, but "bolders from J" to replace the brown fence bordering the septic tank! Thanks to J for tracing and S for embroidering the cow's 4th leg on the Noah quilt square. Our afternoon quilting came to a very rude and abrupt END at 1:00 pm with a power outage! boo! hoo! Thankfully, the sun provided enough light to shut up and close down... or was is visa versa? ha! ha!

DJ provided TIPS or tricks for THREADING A NEEDLE: *place something white behind the needle to better see the eye; *turn the needle around if it doesn't thread on the first try; *cut thread at an angle and use new thread; *LICK and flatten the end with your lips or teeth; OR *lick the needle instead of the thread. May all your needles be threaded smoothly and your stitches glide like silk.

May/June are generally busy months of activity with graduations, Mother's Day and weddings. Let me know of your special plans and travels... to share...
