APPLYING FOR THE SOMALIA VISITOR AMATEUR RADIO LICENSE AND SOMALIA ENTRY PERMISSION.

As of January 2007 Visiting amateur radio operators do not require entry permission at Galkayo airport in Puntland, Somalia if your flight is met by officials from SARFEN or Radio Galkayo. (Check this is still valid before your departure).

E-mail the following information:

1. A scanned copy of your amateur radio license.

2. Your Galkayo airport arrival details a, b and c below:

a. Date of arrival,

b. Time of arrival,

c. Name of Airline.

d. Flight number.

3. A scanned copy of your Passport photo identification page.

4. A scanned copy of your Passport front cover.

TO OBTAIN YOUR AMATEUR RADIO LICENSE ON ARRIVAL IN GALKAYO BRING:

1. Two copies of the amateur license you e-mailed.

2. Two copies of the passport identification you e-mailed.

3. Two photos of yourself.

SARFEN keeps one set and the other set is kept for the license authority.

The Visitor Somalia Amateur Radio License is:

1. Issued to any class of overseas amateur radio license holder as a courtesy.

2. Issued free of charge and for life unless cancelled by the Somalia Government.

3. Issued on arrival in Somalia and cannot be posted in advance.

4. Any none allocated call sign can be selected on arrival but not before arrival.

5. The Somalia visitor amateur radio license cannot be used to obtain an Amateur radio license in another country.

Somalia Government Fees.

The Somalia amateur radio license is free.

Galkayo airport fees:

$ US20 Airport arrival tax (paid on arrival).

$ US20 Airport departure tax (paid on departure).

On the 1st September 2004, Sam Voron VK2BVS, 6O0A, 6O1A under the agreements made with Somalia administrations passed his licensing authority to the national Somalia Amateur radio organization that was formed by the radio amateurs of Somalia and known as Somalia Amateur Radio Friendship and Emergency Network SARFEN.

SARFEN can issue the Somalia Visitor unrestricted amateur radio license to overseas visitors holding any level of amateur radio license.

SARFEN wuxuu sidoo kale shatiyada raadiyaha amitarka ee aan xadidnayn usoo saari karayaa ajaanibta shisheeyaha ee haysata heerwalba oo shati raadye amitereed ah.

This is as a courtesy to visitors and includes foundation amateur, novice amateur and all other levels of overseas amateur radio licenses held by a visitor.

Tani waa nidaam anshax ah oo loo samaynayo ajaanibta waxaana kujira aasaaska amitarka, kuwa bilawga ah iyo dhammaan heerarka kale ee uu haysto qofka ajnabigaa ee dibada.

These visitor licenses are free and for life.

Ka yimid shatigaan ay haystaan waa u xor noloshooda.

They are only valid inside Somalia and will only be issued on arrival in Somalia.

Wuxuuna ka shaqaynayaa oo kaliya gudaha Soomaaliya waxaana lasoo saari karaa oo kaliya imaanshahooda Soomaaliya.

They cannot be sent prior to arrival.

Looma diri karo shatiyadaasi intaysan dalka imaan.

Once issued that visitor has that license and call sign for life and can then also operate with that license on any future visits to Somalia.

The Visitor Somalia unrestricted amateur radio license cannot be used to obtain an amateur radio license in any other country.
