PUNTLAND STATE OF SOMALIA.

Ministry of Information, Telecommunication and Culture.

Garowe, Puntland, Somalia.

Ref: ww.is.Dh.D.247/2004 Date:- 22/6/2004

Regarding- authorised amateur radio frequency bands and transmitter power output in Somalia.

The United Nations International Telecommunications Union World Radio communication Conference in 2003 (WRC) changed some of the International Amateur Radio frequency allocations.

Somalia has included the WRC 2003 changes and also made additional frequency allocations for amateur radio experimenters in Somalia.

Maximum amateur radio transmitter power out put is 3 kW (3000 Watts pep for SSB) and 3 kW average for other modes.

This Ministry promotes Somalia as the best holiday and research destination for visiting radio amateurs as a way of attracting skilled persons to help the local Somali people become HAM Radio operators- "Helping All Mankind and Womankind" people.

No other country provides radio amateurs with more frequencies or a higher transmitter power output as Somalia.

Somalia welcomes radio amateurs from throughout the world.

Sam Voron 6O0A, VK2BVS continues to conduct ham radio license qualifying courses and issue amateur radio licenses free of charge in the name of this Ministry until a national Somali Amateur Radio Society is formed and can undertake that function on our behalf.

The Ministry is pleased to announce that radio amateurs may now operate on the following frequency bands.

Signed,

Abdikariim Ali Sulatn. 22/6/2004
