Cory B. made me aware of the conditions for a build by their technician. My older WD RE4 drives (2) might be OK, but other components need to be from their stock to enable a one-year warranty. Their case is needed. They have three AMD Ryzen 5600X processors under the glass right now, and one Ryzen 7 processor. This means the 5600X is popular. It is priced at $400 whereas the Newegg price is $500. They have a range of motherboards in stock, and they may do a lot of business replacing motherboards in failed commercial computers. Altex prefers Asus mobos more than MSI.
I said I would be ready for a build in October or November. Cory said there may be a better range of video cards at that time.
I will get a bid from Altex and see if the charge to assemble is more than $400, the cost of 5600X. If assembly is more than that, I might buy the parts from them and assemble myself. Letting Altex assemble is like an insurance policy.
