Class theme 14th of February 2010
From Saki
A note to clarify what the meditation on the First Silver Rule was meant to be, as I felt some people still confused it with feeling obligations or short term "goals".
When we affirm this silver rule: My conscientious self, consider duty as "sacred as religion"we can only really understand what this means if we consider ONE duty - as a sacred task or mission that is a central part of our lives - that, when we contemplate leaving this earthly existence, we can then leave with the FULL knowledge of having left this gift, this legacy as we fulfilled this duty. There is something of a joy and deep satisfaction that comes when we know we have fulfilled that purpose, no matter how easy or difficult that might be.
so this affirmation is in itself a kind of prayer in action, the very HIGHEST that we can offer to God and humanity.
A sharing we did during the class of the 14th of February 2010:
Out of all our relationships and responsibilities:
what is the:
living currency of my life; the golden thread that uplifts me; the mark of true duty which links me with a higher ideal (it is not done for recognition or a reward) on a
human being level
on the community level
on the ideal level"
Notice what's missing in fulfilling one's true duty and to look at what it is that one is not doing in order to fulfill it and why
