MARRIAGE IN INDIA
Mom prayed for Omar to get married for long time. No suitable bride was seen so far. There were many proposals from Singapore and Malaysia as well as in India. Mom said, "I prayed for your marriage...Jesus Christ usually answered prayers as soon as possible; he didn't reveal anything regarding this particular matter....so let us wait patiently". Months passed. Omar said, "Mom! I'll be getting two months annual vacation soon during which time I would like to visit India and see whether there is suitable bride". She replied, "Omar! God has established you in this country and there are Christian girls willing to marry you. Even there is a girl with sixty to seventy thousand dollar house. It's better you get married here and live with relatives". He responded, "Your idea is good. But there are many Christian girls in India who are waiting for a prosperous bride-groom...they don't have chance of traveling to overseas and it is good to share the blessings of God with them. They are also brought up in Indian culture which is suitable for our family". Mom concluded, "It's my duty to give you advise. It's upto you to decide what you want". Omar rejected mom's valuable advice and flew to India.
Indian immigration charged him with Rs 24,000 duty for the goods he brought from Singapore. Mytheen paid it all. Saleem and Ayub also came to welcome him. When they reached Vellore by minivan, they anxiously asked, "It is difficult without mom here...why do you keep mom at Singapore without sending her back, though we wrote many letters asking her to come back". Omar explained, "God wonderfully gave long-term visa for mom to live with us there after we were separated for years. She is being mightily used by God in Singapore and Malaysia through ministry of prayer and testimony. Her spiritual life grows tremendously in the Lord. She is having plenty of time to wait on God's presence. All believers love her and marvel at the way Jesus led us so far in our Christian life. She will visit you after some time and you can also visit her at Singapore". They discussed about Omar's marriage. All brothers encouraged him to get married in Singapore or Malaysia. However Omar stood firm on his decision. Finally he got married to Vasanthi and after three weeks returned to Singapore.
