DISAPPOINTMENT FROM SINGAPORE
Before Omar visited Sweden, Africa was prosperous. When he returned, financial situation was in chaos due to sudden down fall in copper price which was main source of income. So many foreigners left the country and he felt lonely without many of his friends. He decided to migrate to another country as the Lord leads him and requested his mom to pray about it. In the meantime he went to India on two months vacation and told the family, "I have planned to visit Shahjahan at Singapore since it is many years we saw him". Accordingly he was at Madras airport to take flight to Singapore. Immigration officer said, "You brought a camera when you entered India and where is it now?" Omar replied, "It's at home in Vellore. I will submit for your inspection at the time of my flight to Africa". He replied, "Unless you submit it now you cannot take this flight". He returned home missing the flight. He got reservation after two weeks and at airport he properly submitted the camera. Immigration officer said, "You must produce income tax certificate to leave the country; as well you don't have a visa to enter Singapore". He answered, "Sir! I haven't stayed in India for ninety days to submit income tax certificate and I don't need a visa as Singapore is also a common wealth country". Officer was not satisfied. Omar prayed for God's help at this moment. Officer came with his supervisor who after examining his records granted permission to take the flight. Shahjahan received Omar at Singapore airport which was a very beautiful airport. The next day Shahjahan took him to Kulalumpur and Genting Highlands. They were wonderful places. Later Omar was offered an occupational therapist job in Shahjahan's working place through his help. Employer said, "Though we have offered the job...we must get work permit for you and it will take one or two months. If you want to go home to India....that's okay. Once we get work permit, we will forward you the flight ticket to travel to Singapore and join this position". He thanked God for this opportunity and returned to India. He left a television imported from Singapore at Chennai airport store room as the immigration did not allow him to take it home even temporarily, without paying duty. Mom continued in prayer for success in this matter. Omar with mom and Ayub traveled to various places in India meeting relatives, friends and Christian brothers. They marveled at the wonderful grace of God. The Lord is refuge to the lowly and He lifts the poor. Those who trusted Him will never be ashamed. How true are these words in their life. After the tour Omar became very ill and was bed ridden. He extended his vacation for another two months. Singapore employer informed that Singapore government denied work permit. It was considerable disappointment; he felt that he will never get an opportunity to migrate to Singapore. Just a week before his flight toAfrica, he shipped the TV to Bombay airport. Afterwards there was a bombing at Chennai airport by Tamil Tigers of Srilanka which killed many people, damaged the airport and store room badly. Praise God for He protected the TV from destruction and Omar returned to Africa safely.
