For many months, dad neither came nor sent any money. Even clinic in Vadugapatti never seem to exist and people forgot about it. Their life became miserable day by day, still they praised God for freedom of worship. They took part in all Christian activities secretly, due to dad's friends spying activity. Omar joined with other believers to preach gospel in the villages around.
One day they went to nearby village called Kamakapatti in order to evangelize; it was situated near Vaigai dam. They returned home in the dark night. They missed their way as they were talking elated and wandered in a thorny bushy desert. They walked barefoot and didn't have a flash light. The desert was full of cobra, viper and scorpion. Alarmed, their feet were sore with thorn prick. Suddenly they remembered a bible verse, "You shall tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shall you trample under feet" (Psalms 91: 13), and were encouraged. Omar meditated on those verses and prayed. They finally reached home safely. They praised God. As usual mom was praying at home. Another occasion, when they were returning home in the night after ministry, a six feet long cobra was racing across in front of them and God protected them form this danger also. To do evangelism, Omar didn't even have 10 paise for bus fare and pastor Stephen paid fare for him, bought him food in the restaurants. Omar found inner strength as he went about preaching gospel to villagers.
Pastor Paulraj, other believers and Omar involved often in evangelism. Some times after ministry, poor Hindu peasants gave them food and for Omar it was like manna from heaven as they didn't have enough to eat at home. People believed that serving a servant of God is service to God Himself. One time Mytheen decided to do ministry in Periyakulam area during college vacation while he was studying B.Com. There were nearly twenty cities. Mytheen and Omar borrowed bicycle from pastor Paulraj to reach out cities, while pastor Stephen and Manoharan accompanied them in another bicycle. Every day they went as far as 10-15 miles. They didn't have money even to buy a cup of coffee. Every where people bought them coffee and food. They happily prayed to God for blessings up on them thousands of times.
Nesamani, a believer from Periyakulam, accompanied them often in the ministry and bore traveling and food expenses for every one. She preached as to how she came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior from Saiva Vellalar Hindu family (one of the strict vegetarian Hindu caste). Pastor Paulraj testified how as a communist atheist, he accepted Jesus Christ as the only true God. Evangelist Santhosaraj from Rayappanpatti toured in bicycle non-stop everywhere proclaiming the love of Jesus. One day he organized gospel meeting in his town. Many believers and ministers participated in it. Omar was stunned to see that he arranged a thatched shed for them to stay which was located in a large open backyard of a rich landlord with cow stables, hay, a big container to store water for cows and trees. Evangelist laughed happily and commented, "Brother! Was Jesus in a palace.....no! he was born in a stable....so enjoy your stay". They rested on the floor and Omar felt very hungry.
There was no grocery to cook food. Christian sisters reminded not to worry about it and God will take care of everything. Evangelist approached few houses for help and they gave him rice, dhal and vegetables. The Lord provided them with wonderful meal daily in this manner. In the morning they walked to nearby cities and shared gospel. If somebody offered them food they took it. One day was very hot and evangelist Santhosaraj took them to a river. While everybody took bath he washed all their clothes and dried them in the sun. Omar was touched by his simplicity because usually believers washed the clothes of the minister, but this minister washed the clothes of fellow believers. What a marvelous humbleness! Omar desired to be like this minister who had no trace of pride in him.
One day in Vadugapatti, when Omar returned from a shop one barber said that there was a lawyer's notice in newspaper regarding them. Omar didn't know about it. When he read the legal notice he was filled with shame. According to it, mom and dad didn't have anymore relationship as husband and wife; he was not dad for children; so they didn't have any right for inheritance and he was not responsible for debts mom borrowed from others. When Omar reached home, told this to mom. Mom said, "Let us praise God.... Omar! Satan brought us so much shame and now he added this too; let us not be shaken up by this". There was one shame after another and every body started to inquire about lawyers notice. Mom walked with her head down due to shame and people looked at her differently conveying a message that poor women...her husband left her and children; how she would survive. After seeing the notice the debtors pressed her for money.
