49. The New Neighbors

Today, Sam has picked up a scrumptious-looking chocolatey chocolate crunch cake. But it is not for him!

Who is it for, you wonder?

You see, Sam has noticed that some new neighbors have moved in across the street.

He is going to gift them this delicious chocolatey chocolate crunch cake as a welcoming gesture!

He hopes they enjoy it.

He knows he certainly would, if someone gave him such a cake.

He rings the bell.

And waits patiently, as he hears footsteps coming closer to open it.

Imagine his surprise, when another dragon answers!

He takes the cake! Sam's gesture of goodwill is working already.

But it isn't just another dragon! There is a cat, too! Another cat and dragon. What are the chances of that?

To make sure the new neighbors understand the purpose of this transfer of baked goods, Sam has brought a sign too.

~~~
These new neighbors seem so nice!
But now one of them is saying things that just don't add up.
But it seems that Sam really is clueless!
It seems like Sam is not pretending!
But he does want some of that cake.
~~~

Now it seems like Sam's "new" neighbor is not sure what to think!

Bingo, meanwhile, has become very concerned, for he knows even Sam cannot possible be this out of touch. Comicat and Dragon have lived across the street for years! How could you not have noticed, Sam?

Alas, Sam can only keep up the charade for so long.

~~~
Oh Sam, such a trickster, you.
Now go eat that cake, and tell everyone you were just being silly!
You were only being silly, weren't you?
Now come on, be serious Sam.
~~~

Such a rascal, that Sam.

Always up to something.
