19. The Grocery Trip Part 3
Sam would be sad to see the puppies go, but he agreed it would be for the best.
But now, not only would Sam not have the puppies, he would not have his goldfish, either.
Sam found the thought to be very, very sad.
But Sam is strong, and he would move on.
After all, he still had Bingo.
And Bingo was the best.
Well at least most of the time.
Right now, he was a bit annoyed.
He was growing tired of puppies.
They had to figure out where they could go.
But Sam was clueless. Who could ever take good care of them as well as they deserved?
Bingo had an idea...
Sam's Grandmam was a kind lady, perhaps she had room in her heart for three puppies!
Sam considered the idea.
Grandmam was very kind, and she would probably love the puppies very much.
But as Sam had realized, a loving heart alone isn't enough to make a good dog owner.
Grandmam was quite frail. Though she might have a heart full of love, even one puppy, let alone three of them, would probably be too much for her to handle.
So it was back to the drawing board.
If only they knew someone who was kind...
...who the puppies liked to be around...
...and who loved them just as much.
But also someone who is responsible.
And capable of controlling the puppies' rambunctious nature, so they don't get into trouble.
In a firm...
...but fair, manner.
Maybe even someone who lives out in the country, with lots of room for the puppies to run and play to burn off their wild energy... with a very very tall fence to keep them safe!
Nobody could ever fit all these criteria!
It is hopeless.
There is nobody good enough.
Bingo is going to be stuck caring for these puppies forever.
And plus, not only must a potential puppy adopter be kind, wise, and fair, but he must be capable in an emergency.
They must be quick to respond and find out the nature of a problem if a pet becomes sick or hurt.
...and always know just what to do...
...to make the pet better.

And just like that, Sam and Bingo had found a home for the puppies.
A very, very good home.
Uncle Tubby was honored to adopt the three puppies and take them home to his home in the country, where they could have lots of room to run and play and be happy without causing any trouble.
And Sam was very happy, because he would still be able to visit the puppies whenever Uncle Tubby was in town.
But especially, because thanks to Uncle Tubby's quick-thinking - and seemingly limitless wisdom - Sam would get a second chance to be a responsible caretaker to Mr. Swimmy.
And he would not get bored of him ever again!
And Bingo was proud of Sam for realizing his limitations, and finally learning to be responsible.
