26. Sam and the Winter Wildlife
Sam takes a moment to admire the beautiful garlands and lights that he and Uncle Tubby put up the prior evening.
They look quite magnificent with the newly fallen snow.
It is really beginning to look like Christmas.
Oh goodness! What a splendid bird that is!
Sam has never seen one so brilliantly red.
But as quickly as it appears, the cardinal disappears into the trees.
But Sam has an idea!
He will see if he can get the cardinal to come back with an offering of food.
Sam knows that he would stick around if someone offered him food.
Bingo humors Sam, but he does not expect a wild bird to let Sam anywhere near it - it is simply not how wild birds are.
They are flighty and wild creatures, impossible to tame.
But if it keeps Sam busy for some time, for all the better.
~~~
Sam puts on his warm winter coat, and heads back outside with a bag of tasty bird seed.
Even the most wild bird couldn't resist bird seed this tasty!
~~~
He takes out a handful, and waits patiently...
And soon, the cardinal returns!
It starts to eat the seeds right out of his hand!
Bingo is amazed.
But it doesn't stop there!
It seems that Sam is gifted when it comes to earning the trust of the wild birds!
~~~
~~~
Bingo has never seen anything like it.
Neither has Uncle Tubby!
~~~
~~~
But it isn't only birds...
~~~
~~~
Sam, it appears, is a friend to all nature.
