The Velvet Dance

Is it to late to cry?

To late to cry?

Is it to late to cry for me?

You boldly crossed the room and took my hand,

So quickly, I did not understand.

Afraid I tried to pull away

You took me in your arms and held me tight.

The music began and we danced across the floor,

On a cushion of air that astounded me.

As the last notes of the song rang out.

You led me out into the starry night.

Under the moonlight, you kissed me with velvet lips.

Then disappeared without a trace into the shadows.

So alone, I stand here awaiting your return

All that is left, undone is to cry.

Is it to late to cry?

To late to cry?

Is it to late to cry for you?
