Going the distance

We have gone many miles to reach this point in our friendship

However each day we near one of the hardest parts of our journey

Soon we each have to go on our own separate path

As our days to an end we no longer want to say good-bye

For it seems like just yesterday that we first said hello

There is nothing that we can do to stop time and recapture what we had

So Instead of dwelling over the past it is time to start a new

In attempt to ease your pain you have been drifting away from me

But I can see in your face that this grief effects you more every day

I wish I had cunning words of wisdom to help you deal with this pain

But the more I look for them I only find that nothing is appropriate

Even if words are inadequate for expressing how I feel

I can promise you one thing

If you look in your heart were the sweet memories of me dwell

You will find something to make you laugh and smile

No matter how far apart we are.
