When The Vampire Kissed Part 5

The whole room became quieted as the bailiff stood in front of the courtroom and boomed.

“All rise, night court is now in-session the honorable judge Bezaleel now presiding." The Judge sauntered out into his court room he loved the fact that the whole room instantly went silent as if they were all holding their breaths. He sorted, his paper work and pored himself a glass of water. After a good minuet he casually glanced around the room and noticed that several of the patrons were actually turning blue so he sat and nodded to the bailiff to continue. The Bailiff returned to his side of the room and said

“Please be seated and come to order.” The first few cases were over in a matter of minuets. When the last case of the day walked into his court room there seem to instantly be an intense electrical charge that caused the hair on the back of his neck to stand on end and the crowd to get restless. The judge straitened in his chair and rapped on the bench with his gavel causing the room to settle once more. His trusted sidekick stepped forward and read

“This is the case of Mat Hemming versus the State the charge vandalism of government property. How do you plea?”

“Guilty your Honor It was me! I wrote Vampire's Suck on your building .” Mat said smiling. The judge clenched his jaw then cleared his throat and said .

“I hear by sentence you to twenty hours of community service where in you will repaint city hall.” he rapped on his bench for emphasis. He nodded to the bailiff who announced his departure as he stepped down Mat smugly cry out.

“Have a Happy Halloween your Honor I hope your kid stays safe when she's out trick or treating.” The judge didn't respond just tapped his bailiff on the shoulder who immediately grabbed Mat by the arm and escorted him out of the courtroom. When he entered the sanctuary of his chamber he found that he was not alone Rachel sat cross legged on the couch. He stood above her and said sternly but affectionately.

“What are you doing her my child.”

“I have something important to talk to you about.” she said and looked up at him feeling sheepish he sat down and she began.

“I was with Gabriel last night, and he is convinced that the wolves are panning to attack the vampires. The only way to stop them is to ban together.” When she finished, her father put his head in his hands and started to weep. She just sat quietly until he said in a low voice.

“I know you are right! It was not that boy's fault that he fell in love with your sister and this silly fight has gotten out of hand. That alpha wolf was in my courtroom tonight. Our best bet is to strike them before they strike us.” He stood up and concluded “Go get Gabriel and his family. I will get the others we will all meet up at The Den at ten o'clock. Rebecca instantly jumped to her feet, she gave her father a peck on the cheek and was out the door in a flash.

When they were are all assembled in front of The Den the Judge and Gabriel's father shook hands then they stepped forward together and pounded their heavy fists on the door. Mat stepped out grinning.

“Well, isn't this a pleasant surprize. You are a little early but it doesn't matter to us a war is a war either way.” He steeped aside, a flood of wolfmen spilled out onto the street and the fight was on. The battle raged on for several hours both sides losing many men. Gabriel fought back to back with Rachel they swung their swards in unison sending wolves flying in all directions. At the same time they saw that their fathers were in trouble. They split Gabriel fought his way toward the Judge and Rachel fought toward Gabriel's father. They both reached their intended target just as the wolf stuck them down. The Judge looked into Gabriel's eyes and weakly said.

“Take care of my little girl.” then he closed his eyes forever. Mean while Rachel held Gabriel's father's head in her lap stroking his damp hair.

“You would have made a good daughter-in-law.” he said then breathed his last. The pair met eyes over the battle and they knew instantly what they had to do. With new found energy they fought until only Mat and his right hand were left standing. They stood showdown stile in the valley of the dead and wounded.

“This is the end!” Gabriel warned

“No I believe that is is only the beginning.” Mat said defiantly

“No meat left standing.” the underling chimed in jumping up and down excitedly. Rachel stepped forward drawing her bloody sward.

“Lets get it on little one.” The wolf howled in excitement and dived at her she dropped her sward, they tumbled to the ground exchanging blows. Gabriel was about to come to her aid when Mat lunged at him they fought. Mat got the upper hand and pined Gabriel to the ground. He stood above him and declared.

“This is the end of the vampires in this town.” he said as he pulled out a large knife from the sheath on his belt. He was about to plunge it into Gabriel's chest when he felt a sudden burning in his own chest. To his surprise when he looked down there was a large sward sticking out of it. He sank to his knees. Gabriel blinked and smiled up at Rachel who kicked Mat to the ground and extended him her hand. They walked arm and arm down the street the new vampire royalty ready to take on the world.
