Opportunities for Healthcare Research [Presentation]

This talk introduces a new healthcare research database, ResearchOne, which has been developed by TPP in collaboration with the Yorkshire Centre for Health Informatics at the University of Leeds. TPP are a provider of clinical systems across primary and secondary care and centrally store the electronic patient records of over 30 million patients. ResearchOne is a not-for-profit enterprise and aims to supply high-quality data to those involved in healthcare research, and help to embed outcomes in clinical systems.

The database contains de-identified data drawn from over 4.4 million records and over 350 healthcare providers, crossing different care settings. The number of records is constantly growing as more providers join ResearchOne.

There are currently research projects with a number of academic collaborators that, for example, investigate the impact of primary-care medication on cardiovascular disease, the effectiveness of SMS intervention, linking primary care records with oncology data, the impact of weather on health service usage, and support for the Born-in-Bradford project.

We will discuss the type of data stored and the processes surrounding data access for researchers. We will also explore further details about a new frailty indicator which is being developed in partnership with the University of Leeds, and the links between ResearchOne and data from the PPM system at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.

We would then welcome questions or ideas about how this new data resource could be used. What data items could be linked to the EPR data? How would this support your research?

Finally we will introduce a series of open workshops which will take place on a monthly basis at the University of Leeds. Their aim is to bring together researchers across multiple departments to discuss how we can use ResearchOne data to improve patient care and health service delivery.

The meeting will be held in room 8.49n of the Worsley Building at the University of Leeds, from 4-5pm with refreshments at 3.30pm.
