Arizona Suite
Op. 38 - 40 are collectively my "Arizona Suite". They are scored for orchestra. (Op. 38 is for strings, woodwinds, and 2 horns; Op.39 adds 2 more horns and Timpani; Op. 40 is for full orchestra.)
Each of the 3 pieces has a subtitle:
Op. 38 - "The land seems barren, but if you listen carefully you will hear its beauty." (This piece uses a native American 'chant' motif near the middle - Violins 2 - echoed by other strings.)
Op. 39 - "Images of an early Native American culture." (This piece quotes 2 Pima - Hohokam descendants - songs.)
Op. 40 - "At dawn, it dies in song, then is reborn in fire."
I composed these pieces using Finale software.
