On 25th July 2016 our President, Ambassador Grahame Ainui OL, MBE, OStJ, QPM, and board were pleased to appoint to the position of Non-Executive Director (Fundraising), Mr Peter White MBE, MCS.

By accepting this appointment Peter brings to Legacy a wealth of experience in this position having served until recently as both Director and Secretary to RPNGC Police Legacy, during which time he was instrumental in the success of our fund raising activities. His passion for the RPNGC and Police Legacy, founded during his service as a Chief Inspector in the Constabulary from 1988-1992, is well known by most. During his early service he was recognised with the award by the PNG Government of the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and in only 2014 he was awarded both the Meritorious Community Service Medal and the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal for his service to Police Legacy in PNG.

Peter has also had a distinguished career in the Australian Government having served as both a Commissioned officer in the Australian Federal Police as well as in a number of senior executive roles within various Australian Government departments

We were also fortunate in having Peter further raise the profile of our organisation by representing RPNGC Police Legacy at the recent meeting of Police Legacies which was held in Canberra on the weekend of 6-7 August 2016, and which was opened by the Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police, Andrew Colvin OAM, APM.

Peter will be the MC at our upcoming Vice Regal Gala event to be held at the Crowne Plaza, Port Moresby on 20th August 2016.

ROYAL PNG CONSTABULARY LEGACY

on Tuesday, 21 May 2013

"The Royal PNG Constabulary has commended the family of the Late Constable Joseph Tangeria for his services to RPNG Constabulary.

The late Constable Tangeria from Tari in Hela province died during active duty on March 1st 1990.

His family was presented with a medal by the Governor General Sir Michael Ogio.

The gathering was organised by the Royal PNG Constabulary Legacy. It was well – attended by members, policemen and women otherwise known as Legatees including Members of the Diplomatic Co, among others.

Former Police Commissioner and Ombudsman Ila Geno reflected on the work of Royal PNG Constabulary in the past and present. With special emphasis to honour those who have died in line of duty.

One such legatee was late Constable Tangeria. His family who were present there received a medal from the Queen’s representative to honour his commitment to the disciplined force. They also returned the last uniform he wore before his passing.

Governor General Sir Michael Ogio commended all policemen and women for their services despite adverse criticisms. He was also impressed with the Board of Royal PNG Constabulary Legacy for a healthy balance sheet.

Sir Michael encouraged other officers to join the Police Legacy as it provides networking and educational opportunities for Members."
