The Rotary Foundation
is Rotary's vehicle for service throughout the world. The Foundation supports all the programs for which Rotary is known, from Polio Eradication to Global and Ambassadorial Scholarships, Humanitarian Aid, International Youth Exchange, Disaster Relief, Peace and Conflict Resolution, local community grants, and much more.
Members and non-members alike support Rotary's many projects with your contributions to the Foundation. Rotary Foundation is a 501(C)(3), not affiliated with any political, national, religious institution or ideology. All donations are IRS tax-deductible if you itemize.
Some of our Club members donate just once, some are Sustaining Members of the Foundation, Paul Harris Fellows, or Benefactors, and these categories are explained below. Some designate a specified amount as an automatic withdrawal or credit card charge to support Foundation Giving. Whether it's a dollar or more, your contribution WORKS!

FORCED TO TAKE TAXABLE IRA DISTRIBUTIONS at age 70 1/2?
RE-DIRECT part or all of your IRA distributions to THE ROTARY FOUNDATION ! The IRS allows you to PAY NO TAXES on the amount you are required to withdraw, if you use that to donate to Rotary Foundation! It's a win-win!
STEP ONE: Write to your plan administrator, indicating the amount you are requesting to re-direct as a donation per Section 408(d)(8) of the Internal Revenue Code, to be sent to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International (FEIN 36-3245072) c/o Vicky Perez, Senior Gift Adm. Specialist, Rotary Foundation, 1560 Sherman Ave., FN 120, Evanston, IL 60201-3698.
STEP TWO: Write to Vicky at the address above to tell her that you have directed a donation in this manner, with the name of the IRA Administrator from whom she will receive payment, and your Member ID Number so that you are properly credited. You may also advise Vicky if you wish to designate a particular fund, eg Annual (SHARE) Fund, Polio Plus, or a specific area of focus.
STEP THREE: Follow up to make sure it gets done on time to avoid penalties for non-withdrawal of funds!

Donating to Rotary means clean water and sanitation. Health and hope in areas that were once ravaged by diseases like polio. Economic development and new opportunities. Your financial help makes all this happen, and more.
Our partners make our donations go even farther. For every $1 we commit to polio eradication, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation commits $2. Many local corporate employers also match our contributions.
