If you're interested, you will be proposed for membership by any current member after your second Club visit, then the proposal for membership is accepted by vote of the current board, and you may be installed at the Club's next regular weekly meeting!
Each member represents his or her vocation, avocation or past occupation, providing diversity of experience, skills and interests to the Club membership.
Rotary is inclusive, diverse and open to all -- true to our identity as a non-political, non-religious, and non-discriminatory organization.
OBLIGATIONS OF MEMBERSHIP ?
Our dues are $35 per quarter or can be paid $70 per half-year. Optional meal cost is $15 including salad, choice of entrée, soft drinks, coffee or tea, homemade dessert, tax and tip -- a great deal for the $ !
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 6:30 pm at LJ's in Magnolia. Meeting attendance is recognized but no longer required. Members find that the benefit of membership is best realized by regularly attending when they can, to enjoy the food, fellowship, brief program, and discussion of service opportunities.
Participation recognition includes a combination of attendance at weekly meetings, participation in committee planning and projects, attending other Rotary Clubs locally or world-wide, or participating in Rotary in other ways!
Help with the Club's two annual fun & fundraising events! Members are asked to sell (or purchase for family) at least four or five 50-50 Raffle tickets each spring @ $25 each.... and to sell (or purchase for family) ten Road Apple Bingo squares each fall @ $10 each (see our "Help Us Help" page for the details and "Announcements" page for lucky winners!)
We have replaced Club "fines" with "happy bucks," giving members an opportunity to give a dollar and announce any happy event in their business, family, church, or even Rotary! The money collected is dedicated for one of several Rotary-supported causes. There are other opportunities to give, for those financially able to do so -- but none required!
OUR MEETINGS
We begin promptly at 6:30 pm to stay on schedule and begin with greetings and news as dinner is served. Meal optional; Order and pay just BEFORE 6:30 to be among the first-served. Dinner is followed by a brief program of local interest (each member takes a turn presenting a program or hosting a program guest speaker), followed by a brief preview of future service events, and the meeting adjourns promptly at 8:00 pm.
Dress is casual / business casual. Guests are always welcome.
We can report that we are no longer a "singing" Club, having lost our way to any recognizable melody years ago -- and also seeing the benefit of "re-gearing" to meet new members' expectations! Check us out and see what you think!
