Dr Rashmi Singh (Prof and HOD) and Dr Ranjeet K Sinha (Associate Professor) are now part of the REACH trial representing Patna Medical College. They are co-investigators of the "Feasibility and pilot study of the effects of microfinance on under 5 mortality and nutrition amongst the very poor in India, a cluster randomised trial" (NCT01845545), to evaluate the effects of the "Rojiroti microfinance scheme" in various tolas in the state of Bihar.

The REACH project is a research study to evaluate the effects of the Rojiroti microfinance programme on the health and nutrition of children in the community, with the collaborators being:
The project is designed as a cluster randomised trial to investigate the effects of establishing self help groups with support from CPSL on the health of children aged less than five years of age. The involvement of the Department of Community Medicine (and of Patna Medical College as a collaborating institution) has been approved by the State Health Society, Government of Bihar. The institutional ethics committees of the University of Nottingham and of Patna Medical College have approved the protocols, including the novel method of taking consent from the community by a show of hands.
